Learn Gods Word, Love Gods Word, Live Gods Word

Facedown

Tonight, at 12:00 the whole of South Africa will enter into a 21 day mandatory lockdown. In every effort to support the government in their decision to lock down our country – we will have to find creative ways of spending 21 days in insolation.

How we choose to spend these days is completely up to us. We can either view this interruption as an inconvenience or we can choose to view it as an invitation to sit with God in His presence and in His word and get to know Him better. Our Heavenly Father always invites us to spend time with Him.

I have chosen to enter into a posture of ‘facedown during lockdown’ – as I humble myself before the Lord, I choose to posture myself in prayer and praise. Every morning, I will lay down my Jesus prayer mat (please do not confuse this with any other religion) – I will get facedown in front of my Father in prayer and praise as I approach His throne of grace. The idea is to demonstrate reverence and surrender to the only true King; Jesus. I believe our nation needs us to cry out for protection over our people, our health and our economy during this time. We do this because, as Beth Moore says; ‘In Gods economy – the way up is down.’ We will survive this time of ‘chaos during corona’ if we surrender our hearts and seek His face. I believe God wants us to recognise that He is still the covenant making and covenant keeping creator God even in the midst of chaos.

As we prioritise Jesus above everything else, we will begin to enter into a higher place of intimacy with our God. A place where fear and anxiety are eradicted, and uncertainities are entertained with peace and joy. May we tackle this emergency, engaged in Gods Word. May we emerge out of this epidemic with hearts that highlight Jesus wherever we go. May this be an era marked by humble surrender to our sovereign King. ‘Humilty is the natural posture of anyone who grasps the greatness of God’ ~ Beth Moore. May we rise up richly aware of Gods greatness.

Proverbs 22:4 – ‘Humility is the fear of the LORD; its wages are riches and honor and life.’

Micah 6: 8 – ‘He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.’

Colossians 3:12 – ‘Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.’

James 3:13 – ‘If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.’

James 4:10 – ‘Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.’

Sometimes life works best when our heads are huddled on the ground and our hearts are lifted heavenward. So let’s posture ourselves well and get down on bended knees in prayer and facedown in praise. In reverence and surrender let’s take delight in our Maker.

My prayer for you is that you would embark the journey of lockdown on your knees, with foreheads on the floor, comforted by our Father, knowing that we are fully encircled and assisted by angels on assignment as we position ourselves at His disposal. Come change our hearts Lord, as we desire more of you during this time.

Psalm 5: 3 – ‘In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly.’

Psalm 27:8 – My heart says of you, “Seek his face!” Your face, Lord, I will seek.
