Learn Gods Word, Love Gods Word, Live Gods Word

He Is Still In Control

Our news feeds are flooded with coronavirus updates.

News that fills us with fear. Numbers that keep rising. Notions that startle us. Neighbours that keep stockpiling. Nations that are in turmoil.

Our conversations, text messages, voice notes, phone calls, Facebook feeds and Instagram profiles are saturated with the COVID-19 name.

It’s a world epidemic. And if we’re not careful – it could also become a spiritually void epidemic as well.

While the world has been plagued by disease, our faith doesn’t have to be.

Instead of feeding our fear, and filling our minds with thoughts of failure – let’s filter our focus on to Gods Word.

Psalm 56: 3-4 – “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise – in God I trust and am not afraid.

Unfortunately hand sanitizer is not going to get us through this world crisis unscathed. But as we choose to shift our focus and set our eyes on things above, we will know a peace that surpasses our earthly situation. This peace will encompass the heart that solely rests in the Sovereignity of Christ. Because, YES – Jesus is still in control. And Yes, Jesus still sits enthroned.

Colossians 3:1-2 – “Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”

Psalm 102:12 – “But you, O Lord, will sit on your throne forever. Your fame will endure to every generation.”

I encourage you to pace your panic, and allow peace to take its place in your heart. Where there is fear, we need to build up faith. Where there is terror, we need to build up trust.

Let’s allow the chorus of our heartbeat to drum according to the tune of: “It is well with my soul, It is well with my soul, It is well with my soul” May we praise His name in desert and dry seasons as much as we praise His name in seasons of fruitfulness. May we rise up and declare His glory over our nation, may we be people who speak life in lethal situations, and bring light in the darkest of places.

We can change the world with our words. We can change our words with our thoughts. Thoughts that give testimony to our triumphant God. Because the COVID-19 virus has nothing on Him. So why do we fear?

Romans 12:2 – “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

We need to fill up our fuel tanks with faith and ride on the roads of victory as we proclaim the name of Jesus over everything: our families, our fate, our finances, our future.

Psalm 20: 7 – “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.”

Sing this with me. Sing it over your lives and our country and our world. Oh Lord, teach our souls to sing: It is well with my soul. It is well with my soul. It is well with my soul.

In the midst of suffering, Jesus is still in control!

Below lyrics are from – Jesus Culture: Still In Control

“How can I say it is well when my voice can barely speak?
How can I sing You a song in the midst of suffering?
Jesus, will You meet me here?
Let Your peace wash over me
I need You now more than ever, teach my soul to sing
My God is still in control and still, He reigns on His throne
Though mountains may tremble and sea billows roll
I’ll sing, it is well with my soul
My God is still in control”
