My house erupts with excitement when my husband walks through the front door every evening. My girls run into his arms and with one fell swoop, he picks them up and embraces them with eagerness and excitement. I watch my girls giggle as they are encamped by arms of love and adoration.
I think as I stare: I wonder if that’s how Jesus feels when I choose to run into His arms every morning.
As the clock turns 5:00am my husbands alarm starts pinging. I turn over and close my eyes – knowing that I should probably get started with my day. Come 6:00am and I drag myself out of bed. I grab my basket full of my ‘quiet time’ essentials and make my way to the kitchen. I need coffee first, always. I stroll towards the couch, make my groove and open my Bible. This is one of the best moments of my day.
I start with my devotional in hand and process some thoughts and write them down. I do a short bible study on the scriptures highlighted in my devotional. I read a Psalm every morning and write a prayer next to the Psalm in my journaling Bible. I write down a few things I feel God saying to me through a scripture or a dream. I also like to send a message or an encouraging scripture to someone who God has put on my heart while spending time with Him.
What does your ‘quiet time’ look like?
Is this a regular practice for you?
Do you believe that the Lord beckons you and longs for you to run into His arms every morning?
What is one goal that you’ve set for your spiritual life this year?
Have you started working through a Bible reading plan or devotional to encourage you to get into Gods Word this year?
Can I encourage you to intentionally pursue the privilege of sitting with the Lord every morning? He longs for you to run into His arms every day and with one fell swoop, He will embrace you wholeheartedly with eagerness and excitement. As you are encamped by the Lords arms of love and adoration, allow Him to speak to you through His Word in new and fresh ways.
My prayer for you is that you would begin to discover deep levels of intimacy with the Lord this year.
