Two weeks ago, I sat down with a friend. Her name is Ethel. She is the beautiful soul that helps me maintain my home, my kids and my sanity. Her face drooped a little as she was floating around our home, doing her thing. So I called her to sit with me. She pulled up a chair and we sat around my kitchen counter. She poured out her heart to me. She had seen something on the news which had caused her to fall down the rabbit hole of fear.
If we allow the newsfeed on our phonescreens to become the highlight reel of our thoughts, we will find ourselves crippled by fear and fussing over facts that we can’t control.
The enemy longs to have his way with our minds. It is his playground. When we fret over fears and frustrations, we allow the enemy to grab a foothold on to our thoughts. If we’re not careful, it could turn into a wildfire of worry, worsened realties and wasted dreams. So then, what is the answer? When we renew our thinking with Gods Word, the enemy stands no chance of defeating us.
Five years ago, I went through some really tough health issues. God gave me a scripture that I would play over and over in my mind like a tape recorder that got stuck on repeat. That scripture carried me through some really troublesome times. The Bible is referred to as the Word of God, meaning it can be considered a direct line of communication from the Lord. God meets us in His Word, and the Holy Spirit works powerfully through Gods Word. Gods Word is life giving. His Word speaks life into every situation. It is full of power and precision. So let’s grab hold of it during this time, where hearts are hurting and fear is in full swing.
Here are forty fear-fighting scriptures that we can hold on to when we come face to face with the shaking realities of life. So, write them down, print them out, hold them dear to your heart, always have them near. They can be read on the run, in the mud and mess and mundane and miraculous times. They will forever sprout forth hope and joy and peace.
