Learn Gods Word, Love Gods Word, Live Gods Word

Reflect and Remember

What has been the highlight of your year?

Sometimes it’s good to reassess where we are and know where we are going in life. It’s also good to step back for a moment to realize and recognize the blessings that God has given us throughout this year.

Our family is going through an incredibly busy and somewhat frustrating season at the moment. As we enter the second last month of the year; the workload seems to increase and the deadlines draw near. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle of the everyday haste. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the opposition that comes our way. It’s in these moments that we need to learn to rest in Gods restoration, reflect on Gods remedies, and remember Gods redemption.

The Israelites struggled with this. God provided for them over and over again and yet still they chose disobedience over obedience and idol worship over devotion to the great I AM.

I wonder if sometimes we do this. I know I do. We choose disobedience over obedience in our attempts to self-sustain and self-succeed. We choose busyness and deadlines over time spent in Gods Word. We use our kids, our jobs, our circumstances as excuses – just like the Israelites did. They struggled to reflect and remember what God had done for them.

The Israelites remind us of Gods redemptive plan for humanity. He saves us out of slavery, which is sin, and calls us to walk in freedom, which is salvation. His plan for us is to be with Him. He is a relational God, who’s redemptive plan is for our restoration. Take a moment to reflect on this.

So, again I ask: what are the highlights of your year? At the beginning of this year, I could hardly walk or put any pressure on my left foot. Yesterday, I ran on a treadmill. Today, I will take a moment and reflect and remember this great and incredible God that I serve!

He has restored, remedied and redeemed my life!

Jeremiah 7:23 – ‘Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people. Walk in obedience to all I command you, that it may go well with you.’
